Ostentatious

Designer Gareth Pugh received an award from France's National Association for Fashion Development, and will show in Paris this September. Well, then. He certainly doesn't seem like your ordinary designer (a bit, wait, a LOT more obsessed on the whole goth thing) but different is good, right? hm. Following are some pieces from his Fall 2008 RTW and the designer himself.

Is a furry cape with shoulder pads (? I didn't know how else to decribe that) really necessary? Well, points for...creativity??

Even extremely rich people have bad hair days..!

The "Permanent Wave" of the 1920's-1930's. Doesn't this make you oddly thankful that we have curling irons, digital perm technology, etc.?

I don't know what to think about Gareth Pugh. I think he is very clever but I don't really like his collections.

It's a different collection, but i don't like it. A funny pic of Donald.

Thank you for commenting in my blog :)

This collection reminds me an urban warrior.
I don't think it will jump to the street as it is, but less "over" maybe.

I like Gareth Pugh, this stuff is very different and creative. Not too sure about that collection with the models walking down the catwalk with black cubes over their heads though!!

I hope the RTW pieces are toned down for street wear. I just can't see anyone wondering down the street in these pieces! : )

I've never actually seen any of gareth pugh's collections before but I kind of like it. it's dark and edgy and really different... so yeah, thanks for the introduction? ha.

That is a very intense collection. All of the pieces look so intricate and outrageous (in a good way).

Yikes! The things people will do with hair. Pugh is too intense for me.

Theres something going inside Gareth Pugh's head that not many of us will understand. I salute him for being himself because many designers will be worried abt what other ppl tink of their collection. Pugh did this collection and it had his initials written all over it. He's not scared about showing who he really is!

i think it will be exciting to see what gareth pugh comes up with. variety is a good thing. and wow, those curling machines look cruel!

donald trump! lol!

but those are pretty scary huh?

those clothes are crap. Looks like something someone who shops at hot topic would buy. ewwww!

Oh man, that perm contraption looks like a torture device (well, maybe it was).

I never get Gareth Pugh, but I don't think the collection's supposed to be pretty or anything. I think it's more meant to push the boundaries of fashion and wearability. (Or something..)

Gareth Pugh always creates some interesting clothes - urban yet still very individual! They are great show pieces!

Ummm, "permanent wave" looks a bit scary at that era, but hey... we have to sacrifice for fashion, right? Heheeeeeee

P.S. Thank you for your lovely comments! It really makes me smile!

I read an interview with Gareth Pugh and it seems he doesn't really want his designs to be all that accessible; mission accomplished!
Such a funny shot of the Trumpster - I thought that hair was immovable!

That wave machine is INSANE! I can't believe people would go through that just for some waves!!!

gareth pugh is a genius and although people think it's unwearable clothes, so what? it's art and not many people can think the way he does.

as for the trump, he has more of a bad hair life. hee hee!!
