I'm so excited for sumer '08 but all the designers are a year ahead, as usual. If only I was that on top of things....

Erin Fetherston Resort 2009

Erin Fetherston Resort 2009. I absolutely love all the material she uses. It's gorgeous and shiny (but not like hurts-your-eyes-shiny) and then you look closely and BAAM you realize there's beautiful pictures of flowers in the fabric! Erin Fetherston used photo-printed chiffon and taffeta created by Swiss textile house Jakob Schlaepfer. [photos from style.com]

Alexander Wang-Resort 2009 preview

According to style.com, 'When he designed his Resort collection, Alexander Wang was thinking of "a girl who's living on a motorboat, hanging her clothes to dry on the deck."' [pictures from style.com]

I think this dress could definitely be a "girl who's living on a motorboat hanging her clothes to dry on the deck" item. You know a designer is experience when he/she can show their inspiration through their creations!

It's an interesting mod shirt..would you wear it? hm.

Okay this outfit really appeals to me and stood out, though it is not especially unique. Probably because it's pretty and simple, yet still stands out. Plus, this is possibly now a new potential outfit inspiration.!

Oh dear. I dread the day when, ehem, some certain people find out that pants are not necessary (and that they can wear tights instead).

Okay...no offense Alexander Wang...you're great and all, but I'm pretty sure I've seen this in a lot of department stores.

Of course, Alexander Wang had find some way bare skin at SOME point.

Haha
Two words:Long Johns!

Out of all these, this is by far the most elegant. The idea has been done plenty of times, but nothing requires a designer to come up with something fresh 24/7, right?

Chanel Piano

To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Steinway & Sons, renowned international fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has created a commemorative piano reflecting his bold yet impeccable style. With dramatic, highly-polished red and elegant black satin finishes, this stunning instrument is a study in powerful contrasts. Mr. Lagerfeld's innovative design features a rectangular music desk and legs.

How long will it be until designer gummy bears, popcorn, or gum? (I just tried to think of three random things, the first three that I came up with were food-related...wow.)

T for Tennis+Tiffany's

Whenever I've watched tennis on T.V. (of course I watch it for the grunts...I mean, that's what makes tennis intense right?) I've noticed how some female players have long earrings. Everytime they serve, whack a forehand, etc. their earrings swing back and forth in a graceful manner. [This probably takes some sort of unique skill. I always have to take my earrings out before tennis! Oh, and I play tennis just for the outfits of course! Kidding..kind of.?]

Not surprisingly, tennis star Maria Sharapova now has a two year deal with Tiffany & co. Miss Sharapova is supposedly going to wear multiple Tiffany brand earrings at The French Open, Wimbledon, US, and Australian Open.

The Diorphone

So we all know that these designers can apparantely get a little over-passionate sometimes about where to plaster their logos. (Bikes, baby mobiles, cars, pianos, pretty much anything..) The newest little gadget from fashion house Dior is a phone the size of a USB stick. Its meant to be clipped outside of your bag/purse/wallet/man-purse/backpack/whatever-you-use-to-carry-your-sometimes-useless-stuff. Oh, did I mention that it's about $5,000?

Yves Saint Laurent; forever remembered

Yves Saint Laurent passed away on June 1, 2008. Although I still cannot afford the luxurious clothing from his namesake design house, I deeply respect this man. His influential tight and bold silhouettes and the elegant bags created under his namesake is proof for how inspirational he is. He created pant-suits with square shoulders, smoking jackets, safari jackets, and tuxedos, but yet perfected the androgyny with billowy peasant blouses and fitted, flouncy couture gowns in dramatic and bold colors.
