Designers vs. Actresses

Now that the Oscars are over, and many people blogged about them, what do you think of the dresses that top DESIGNERS think these actresses should have worn? [Here's some from style.com]

The dream dress vs. the real deal.

Rodarte for Saoirse Ronan (Atonement). Since she's only 13, it's a cute dress.

Saoirse Ronan's actual outfit. "Princess-like", but a little bit too much like a nightgown for me.

Richard Chai for Tilda Swinton. (Michael Clayton). I like the neckline on this dress, and it looks like it would be very comfortable..

Tilda Swinton's actual outfit. I know you all thought about this already...but where are her sleeves? Currently, nobody has figured this out yet. Maybe she was in a fight before the Oscars, she had to get a flu shot on her left arm, she has secret tattoos of unicorns up and down her right arm...who knows?

Philip Lim for Ellen Page. (Juno) I like the organza fan, it's an intersting "face-highlighting" detail.

Ellen Page. This definitely wasn't the most interesting dress, but think about it, this wouldn't flatter just ANYBODY and she still looks good in this simple dress.

Trashy? Not in the way you're thinking.

This is from the 13th China International Beauty Festival in Beijing.

I applaud the designer for the uniqueness...but I have to ask...what exactly was the inspiration for this? Where are her arms?

Eyess

At this year's fashion show, I have to say, although this fits more under "beauty" and not "fashion", THIS is definitely the most....um...different.
Seeing those eyes reminds me...try changing your eye color, even if just for a day. Go to www.freshlookcontacts.com/colorstudio to see some colors, or stop by Costco for avucue daily colours.

Happy Presidents Day

Apologies for the recent lack of posts...

1. One day fashion weeks is going to become so extravagant that it will be held entirely underwater. Maybe in some sort of underwater aquarium contraption thing? That's my prediction.

2. Neiman Marcus is also coming to WA, Bellevue to be in fact. This is late news, but I just wanted to say...ONE MORE YEAR. (It is opening in 2009)

3. Happy Presidents Day!

5. Spring Sports is coming up! Good luck to anyone trying out for a sport.

4. I hear so many people now saying "I want to change my look" but they don't know where to begin. If you really want to change your look, I think you should try a new haircut, and then change your clothes. Clotheswise, how about starting with the jacket (instead of hoodies, try cardigans), shoes (for girls, an easy switch is to go from athletic shoes to something more fashionable. Try shoes with a little heel, maybe a wedge, which will stand out from the safer option; ballet flats.) and knowing that you don't ALWAYS have to wear jeans will help your transition :]

5. We call first dibs on the Jovovich-Hawk collection coming to Target on March 2nd!

Layering For Legs

We layer almost everything now, but I haven't seen any layering for your legs. I'm talking about socks, tights, leggings, legwarmers, etc. You can wear knee-highs over tights, or legwarmers over knee-highgs. You can combine almost legwear, such as the ones listed above, just baam, smash them together to create a futuristic look that, *gasps* KEEPS YOU WARM.

Tips; Wear the piece of legwear that is more fitting on the inside, and wear looser legwear on top of it. Experiment with different textures of legwear fabric.

INSPIRATION~ [old & new pictures. these pics. weren't taken by us]
